Overview:
Ceuse is famous climbing area in Southern France that boasts a view that will leave you as breathless as the hike.
The climbing is mainly slightly overhanging limestone but with the climbing style varies at each of the different sectors. Depending on who you talk to the hike is anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour from the campsite at Les Guerins. The campsite has all the amenities you'll need in terms of shower and toilets but there's not much to do for restdays. Food and water can be purchased at Les Guerins but for anything substantial you'll want to go into Gap, about a half hour drive. I have been to Ceuse twice, once in the early fall and once mid-summer. Most people climb there July to October when the sun is high in the sky, or when the temperatures start to drop. In the morning the cliffs to the right are in the sun and Sector La Cascade is in the shade, in the afternoon most other sectors are in the shade while La Cascade is in the sun. Info:
To get to Ceuse head first for the city of Gap. From Gap follow signs out of town towards Sisteron. At the southwest edge of Gap start looking for signs
to La Freissinouse (D994). Once in La Freissinouse look to turn left onto the D47 (Sigoyer), and start following signs to Sigoyer.
The image below should link you to directions from Gap to Sigoyer. When in Sigoyer turn right at the far edge of town and follow signs to Les Guerins. You can park
up the road farther from the camping if you are not camping there.
