Overview:
Big Bend National Park is located in southern Texas where the Rio Grande makes a big bend as it winds through the desert. Big Bend boasts three
different climate zones; desert, mountain and plains all in close proximity. I was there in January 2007 and there was snow in the mountains while
it was 80 degrees in the desert. This struck me as one of the more remote national parks that I have been to and the proximity to Mexico provided
an interesting twist. At some points you were standing at the edge of the Rio Grande with the border mere feet away.
Info:
The winter months provide the best time of year to visit the park. In the summer the daytime temperatures can climb above 120 in the desert quite
regularly.
Photos:
Here are a few photos of the park. I'll try to provide comments soon.
